Uber is rolling out new service fees to new drivers to help cover the costs of operating the new UberX service.

The new fees include a $100-per-hour fee to use UberX, which has become the standard for car-sharing companies in Canada.

Uber will also be offering new drivers the opportunity to earn up to $100 in cash for every ride they make during their first six months on the job, an option available to anyone who is 18 or older.

The company said the new fees are a result of the recent surge in UberX ridership.

The fee changes are expected to take effect for drivers in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal by the end of the month.

The new fees will apply to drivers who are currently working in the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Edmonton.
